It is August, and for Lamtaput that means the monsoon season. It is wet everywhere. For the bamboo plants, this is the signal to put forth new shoots, entering a time of growth and proliferation!

Bamboo has a 'rhizome' -which means underground stem, like ginger. And in seasons of good water availability the rhizome sends forth new shoots. So the rainy season with all the blessing of water, is a time of growth and new beginnings.
These shoots however need protection since they are eaten by many creatures, so our team has put up tree guards that form a protective covering for all our bamboo plants.
